12 Days of Christmas – Day 5

On the 5th day of Christmas, my true-self gave to me,

My 5 fingers on each hand to grasp another hand in friendship!

Today, there is plenty of sadness and worry in the world and most people (7 out of 10) are unhappy to some degree.  I truly believe that this world can be a much better place for us and our children if we all would offer a “Random Act of Kindness” each day.  We are on this planet together.  It does not matter your race, religious beliefs, your political views, your job or career status or how wealthy or lacking you are.  The actions you take each day will eventually touch every other person on this planet.

There are theories such as the Ripple and Butterfly Effects that state that the smallest act can have a dramatic impact on the world around you.  In the Butterfly Effect, the idea is that the flapping of a butterfly’s wings on the east coast of North America can impact the climate of Southeast Asia.  Likewise, the Ripple Effect states that what may start out as a tiny drop in the ocean, will ripple or fan out into a larger and larger circles touching a much wider space of the ocean.

Therefore, as we go about our days, we should look to reach out with our stretched fingers to grasp another person’s hand and extend a warm and sincere smile and handshake and watch the result.  You never know what kind of impact you will have on another’s life.  That person that you extended that warmth to may have been contemplated something that could have harmed someone else or himself, and you may have just prevented it from happening.  Its a bit extreme to think about, but the fact remains that the energy of the sincere handshake and smile will effect the energy of those that it touches.

A very heart-felt handshake is extended to all that have read this.  Namaste.
